The Word of God in Titus 1:7-14 clearly sets out the role and responibilities of an overseer or Bishop.

“For an overseer, as God’s steward, must be above reproach. He must not be arrogant or quick-tempered or a drunkard or violent or greedy for gain, but hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined. He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party” (Titus 1:7-14 ESV). Read v 7-14.

This is how a leader must be. A leader must lead with integrity. The congregation will follow the leaders that God has set over them and over the nations. A leader’s lifestyle and speech must be above reproach and a Christian leader must be responsible for God’s Word. He must preach the Word of God without apology for God is the author and finisher of our faith. In Jeremiah 1:10 we learn about the responsibility of a leader, it says: “See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant” (Jeremiah 1:10).

I pray for every servant of God to be refreshed from on high, and anointed to follow the guidance given in Titus’ 1:7-14. I pray that you are strengthened with Holy Ghost authority, power and might to preach the Word of God in and out of season. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I give God thanks for you and for all your ministries. Amen.
