Grace For All Seasons
Romans 12:21 says, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” My beloved Brethren in Christ, some of us become upset when our brethren do things that we find annoying. And without thinking, we abandon our Christian principles. Even if it’s just for a moment, our mild, kind benevolent temper is ruffled by the hurt, offence or injury that we experience.
In the name of Jesus, I beseech you brethren, maintain, hold tightly to your Christian principles in every instance of oppositional temptation, trial, and persecution. Contention is where evil overcomes the child of God. If we engage in contention with contentious people who seek our hurt, we will fail God. Instead, we must seek to overcome, subdue, and vanquish every evil with good, through prayer and demonstration of the power of God working in us. Demonstrate the true nature of a Christian follower of Christ Jesus: His love, kindness, and the Spirit of calm benevolence in order to disarm evil plots against us.
Father, in Jesus’ name, help us to show patience and maintain a peaceful disposition when we are tempted to do otherwise. Bless us that we may be the bringers of Your peace to every situation, for “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Mat 5:9 KJVLite). Rejoice, and be glad. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
