Joseph’s Character
Genesis 50:15-20
Greetings my brethren in Christ Jesus. In this series of messeges from the book of Genesis regarding Joseph we look at his character and development his experiences.
He was sold into slavery by his brothers and that is by his own family, lied about by the wife in the household of his master, lost his elevated position, sent to prison, known in prison for his integrity and right standing, disappointed by a person he had helped in the prison. Yet he continued to do his best knowing that God was with him.
He was no longer a boaster, he no longer wore the expensive coat that could not and did not deliver him or make him a man. God made him. The coat made him his father’s favourite. Some might say this young man had many reasons to be upset but he held his peace, this is not the time or place to give up. His rise to the place God would have him to serve was imminent. The time for him to demonstrate his growth and experience was drawing near. His development in God would shine as a time was coming when he would hear the voice of his dying father to forgive his brethren. That is when the godly wisdom and compassion he had learned would come pouring out of him.
Ask yourself, these questions:
1. How do I measure up when adversity strikes and trials run on and on? What is it that I do?
2. Do I always trust God and wait? How do I occupy myself while waiting?
3. Do I try my hardest to figure out how to deal with the issues? OR do you just pray?
Father, God, thank You for Your love, Your patience and kindness. I thank You for being present with me through my trials and tribulations. I thank You for Your promises and Your faithfulness. Help me to put all my trust in You, to wait on You, to let go of all fear and doubt that I might testify of Your goodness and bring hope to whom I can. In Jesus’ name. Let wisdom and compassion grow in me and flow from me. Hallelujah! Father, I give You all the glory and all the praise. in Jesus’ mighty victorious name. Hallelujah and Amen.
