For I Am Not Ashamed
In 2Tim 1:8 the Apostle encourages us not to be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord but we should rather be partakers of the afflictions of the gospel through the power of God. If we are ashamed we cannot fulfill our respective callings. Jesus sent His disciples out into all the world to preach the gospel to every creature. How can we do this if we are ashamed? If we are to reign with Christ, we must first suffer awhile.
Verse 9 tells us that we are called with an holy calling which is not based on our subjective interpretations of who we think we are. And that no individual calling is decided on a persons works. We are called for “God’s purpose and His grace which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.” (2Tim 1:9 KJVLite). What a blessing and a privilege it is for us be Christ’s representatives, His ambassadors right now. “He has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel” (2Tim 1:10 KJVLite).
So take note of verse 11 where the Apostle says: “whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.” Then, ask ourselves, What am I appointed to? Let us be reminded and carry out our appointments being fully persuaded that God is able to keep us. I declare fresh anointings upon us all, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
