Thy Faith Fail Not
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren (Luke 22:31-32 KJVLite).
We are no different from Simon Peter in that we are human and desire to serve Jesus our Lord and Saviour, and like Peter, if we are not focussed and vigilant, we could be sift as wheat. Can you just pause for a moment and grasp that while you and I are doing our best to serve the Lord the enemy is trying everything possible to kill us. Peter loved our Lord Jesus, he even defended him with his sword but when the crunch came – a sure test, Peter denied Jesus, even after saying that he was ready to die with him. Where are you and I in our faith relationship with the Lord?
We are certainly living in a secular, unbelieving, violent and decaying world – how do we live as Christ’s present day disciples? How do we continue in the faith when as Christian people we see the ungodly enjoying the fruits of their labour and then some, while we are told not to talk about our faith in the workplace…. Jesus’ prayer for Peter, “that thy faith fail not” is much needed today. Let us pray one for another “that thy faith fail not”.
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, I pray “that thy faith fail not”. In spite of changes in laws, and behaviours that make sin acceptable – a right, and the norm, you will continue in the faith of Christ Jesus. I pray that in spite any inequalities you might suffer, the Word “that thy faith fail not” will strengthen, build and establish your faith in Lord Jesus – knowing that He is with you, and works things out for your good. Glory be to God! Amen.
