Inspired by John 14:27

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Jesus spoke these words to His followers because of the works of peace He himself had already done. Peace, in the world is insecure at the best of times. It seems as though world leaders are always hovering on the brink of war, and sometimes peace is only achieved by the loss of thousands of lives, and even then, peace is not guaranteed.

However, when we begin to look at the works of Jesus Christ, we see one man sent from heaven. He is God’s only son who died to secure peace. His sacrifice was not just for hundreds of thousands of people but for generations to come, for everyone who receives Him. We have peace in the earth, and peace in heaven with God through Christ Jesus and his works of peace: His crucifixion, His death, and His resurrection.

Peace, which means you and I can cast our cares on the Lord, for He cares for us. A peace which means fear not, for I am with you, I will never leave you nor forsake you. Peace, for Christ is our shelter. Peace, for He is our hiding place. Peace, for He is our strong tower. Peace, for He is Jehovah Shalom the God of peace. Peace, because when we accept Christ we receive peace that passes all understanding, a soul preserving peace; a peace that remains even when the whole world is in turmoil, the Peace of God.

Jesus Christ is our peace maker and peace giver. Let’s follow Him.

God bless you
