Father in heaven, glory to the power and authority of Your Word to give life and to transform the hearts and minds of Your people. Through Christ You have given those words, spoken by Jesus in John 17:8. “for the words which you have given me I have given to them; and they received them, and knew for sure that I came from you. They have believed that you sent me.”

Father, Your Word gives us faith to believe, and wisdom to act upon those Words, in Jesus’ name. Father, things have changed. When I look at the state of the world and see what is happening it makes me sad, and I ask myself did we truly receive Your Word? Are we cherry picking the Word of God by not preaching and teaching repentance: its place and purpose, practice?

Could it be that, the reason why we are in spiritual deficit is because we do not always repent when we are wrong, have sinned against You? The gospel of Jesus Christ came with repentance at its core, and yet we pray and do not repent. Therefore there is no result, and Father, Your people are crying. We need Your Holy Spirit, power, and authority to literally turn our hearts to You.

If 2Chr 7:14, Act 2:38, Eze 18:30, Mat 3:2, Mat 9:13, Mk 1:15, Mk 6:12, Lk 13:3, in the Old Testament as much as in the New Testament are important, and central to the salvation message, then repentance is one of the most common conversations in scripture. So, if we are falling short we are altogether failing. Father, I pray in Jesus’ name that as You build Your church, You would empower Your people with the spirit of obedience, and all humility to Your will. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen.
